Today's guest is Urmi Hossain, an Italian - Bengali living in Canada with a background and Honors in Finance. She struggled with living in an interracial home and felt she never really fully belonged. Because she was raised Italian, she wasn't Bengali enough, but because she was Bengali by blood, she was not Italian enough. It took her a while to accept and adjust to being multicultural. Despite that, Urmi went on to succeed. Initially, she took up International Business but didn't enjoy it. She loved the math subjects and shifted to a major in Finance, where she was in the honors program. When she graduated, she continued to focus on Finance and enrolled in the CFA program, where she is now working toward Level 3 certification. She created a blog and Youtube channel to share her journey and provide financial advice and tips. She aims to inspire other women to be financially literate and to join the finance world.
Who is Urmi Hossain
Urmi (Bengali name that means “wave”) is a published author working toward a Level 3 CFA certification, with 5 years of experience in the finance industry. She is a Canadian citizen who is Bengali by blood and Italian by birth.
Her first book is called "Discovering Your Identity: A Rebirth From Interracial Struggle", where she shares her struggles in finding her cultural identity. She is currently working on her second book.
Urmi promotes financial literacy and shares advice and tips that are not learned in financial education courses on her Youtube channel and blog.
She offers mentorship in finance, such as budgets and investments, as well as career advice. She aims to empower women in finance and help them achieve their own goals.
Urmi is an active member of the Toastmasters Organization and recently became the President of the Club.
She also volunteers for groups that support women's empowerment.
